MultiVR lab
The lab performs research in fundamental and innovative research topics in visual computing, in particular in virtual reality and computer graphics. The focus is on the exploration of new techniques, algorithms, methods and technologies, and their application in various domains.
Visual computing includes image synthesis and image understanding, but also modeling, simulation, 3D interaction, among many other sub-disciplines. The research areas and expertise of this lab covers geometric computing (in particular, real-time geometry algorithms), algorithms for collision detection and collision handling, force computation in virtual scenes for force feedback, point-cloud processing, markerless tracking and pose determination of articulated objects with high degrees of freedom, 3D interaction in virtual environments, design and implementation of virtual digital twins (e.g. for space travel or medicine).
Through the development of new hardware technologies, the possibilities are constantly expanding, which means that new fields of research can always be opened up.
